By Ryan Sit, Stephen Rex Brown, New York Daily News – Bernie Sanders broke bread with the Rev. Al Sharpton Wednesday as the surging Democratic presidential candidate from Brooklyn sought to shore up support among black voters.
The pair met at Sylvia’s in Harlem around 10 a.m.
Sharpton hugged Sanders at the entrance to the Lenox Ave. food mecca. They waved to supporters who chanted “Bernie! Bernie!”
Following the 20-minute sit-down Sharpton briefly addressed the crowd outside the restaurant.
“I’ve asked him very bluntly about Flint. I’ve asked him very bluntly about affirmative action,” Sharpton said of the conversation. “I’ve asked him very bluntly about the issues of police brutality and police misconduct, things I want to hear.” Read the full story at NYDailyNews.com.
