"On Our Way -Strength In Diversity"

The Georgia Coalition of Black Women, Inc. (GCBW) was founded in 1980 in Macon, Georgia. GCBW is a nonprofit, community-based outreach organization that focuses on women's advocacy. An affiliate of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, the Coalition has worked to develop and strengthen relationships in the multi-cultural community. The organization sponsors conferences, workshops, and forums which are designed to encourage and support the participation of women, particularily, African American women, in the government and business sectors.

A major focus of the Coalition is to impact public policy and to facilitate the participation of women in government, with emphasis on the electoral process.

Our goal is to empower and improve the quality of life for women and their families and to foster personal growth, independence, and self-esteem. Our radio program, In Sisterhood Inspiration and Information, featurs the Good News Ladies, Book Round-Up by and about women, Sheroes Achievers, Here's to Women's Health and Women and Public Policy Issues.
