A Pictorial Exhibit Celebrating Women

The Georgia Coalition of Black Women, Inc. is the proud owner of a traveling pictorial exhibit celebrating the achievements of Georgia Women.

The exhibit features photographs within the following categories:

  • Women in Government
  • Business Education
  • Media/Communications
  • Religion
  • Community/Civic & Civil Rights
  • Women Mayors
  • First Ladies

The exhibit was created by the Coalition with a premiere exhibition at the Georgia State Capitol on February 8, 1985. Initial funding for the exhibit was provided by the Governor's Council for the Arts in 1985. The exhibit was updated and displayed in the Atlanta City Hall Atrium during the 1996 Olympic Games.

This historic exhibit profiles some of Georgia's most dynamic women; Mrs. Evelyn Lowery; Mrs. Coretta Scott King; Congressman Cynthia McKinney; Ms. Xernona Clayton; Dr. Johnetta Cole; Mayor Emma Gresham; Justice Leah Sears; and Sheriff Jackie Barrett.

The exhibit has been displayed at national, regional, statewide, and local conferences. Various colleges and universities have also displayed the exhibit.
