Hundreds of minority media journalism students will get an insider's look at journalism at the newly added Hip Hop Journalism Summit at the Best of the Black Press: Black Press All-Stars Awards Luncheon and On-Site Media Clinic Workshops. The event is scheduled for on September 16-17, 2005 in Chicago, IL and will focus on the future of the minority media.

"Our readers are largely 18-54 with over 60% in the 18-34 market so it's a natural fit to add our first ever Hip Hop Journalism Summit to our list of workshops. Adding a Hip Hop publications have one of the most loyal audiences of all Black publications and address important topics in the American landscape," said DC Livers, managing editor for the Historical Black Press Foundation. "We feel that high and college journalists of color are the future of Black Press. We hope is to excite younger journalists into making a solid career in the media.

The event, which is presented by the Historical Black Press Foundation and carries the official theme of "Protecting the Future of Minority Media," will address important issues facing the Black Press and other ethnic media including newsroom technology, improving the overall quality of minority publications and helping ethnic publishers to attract and retain a competitive workforce. In addition, a report entitled The State of the Black Press will be made available at the first annual Black Press All-Stars V.I.P. awards gala, which will honor the minority media professionals who were named to the Black Press Yearbook: Who's Who in Black Media directory.

Additionally, the highly anticipated NUESTRO: Who's Who in Hispanic Media directory will also be previewed at the event.
