There are devils at your level. No matter how low you are or how you get, there are devils at your level.

If you are poor, there are devils trying to keep you poor. If you are rich, there are devils trying to take away your riches.

However, if you are doing the right thing, you will be protected. If you are doing God’s will, so to speak, no weapons formed against you shall prosper.

It is good to do right. It’s good to honor your commitments and vows. It is a blessing to have faith, keep the faith and to stand up for righteousness and what you believe in.

If it is good to be good, why do good people always seem to catch the most hell? Sometimes the good spouse or good mate ends up with a lying, cheating partner. Sometimes the worker who stands up and speaks out about bad working conditions loses their job. Sometimes the person that believes it is better to give than receive will get no help even after he gave to others all that he could give.

When you make a choice to be a good woman or a good man, you expect to catch hell, you expect to be criticized and you expect to be betrayed but you don’t care.

Good people will do good things, good people will have faith and good people will be compassionate and thankful whether the devils appreciate them or not. Good people will keep the promises they make to you.

Think about the people in your community that eat well even though the only grocery money they have are food stamps. What about the people that never miss a mortgage payment even though they haven’t worked in several years? How about the people that can go everywhere that you can only dream about going even though they can’t even afford a bus ticket?

Well, history has shown that good people can go into a fiery furnace and not get burned. Some people go into a lion’s den and not get scratched or eaten. Some people can tell the truth about the low-lifed, slimy, degenerate beastly ku klux klan and never fear getting a burnt cross in their yards.

Never be scared to do what is right. Never be afraid to love God and love your neighbor. Never be timid to fight for a noble cause, to stand up for equal rights and justice or to tell a modern day devil to get out of your life and never enter your life again.

Don’t worry if sometimes you find that you’re standing alone and speaking out by yourself. It doesn’t matter if your friends turn out to be fake friends and turn against you without a cause. It doesn't matter if the people you believe in believe in the wicked, evil, light-eyed devil.

So what, if your family, your loved ones, your girlfriend, your boyfriend, your classmates, your church members and your fraternity brothers pimp you, punk you, mistreat you and spitefully use you.

The devil, or the she devil, can’t keep a good person down. A good person can make hard times soft. A good person can make dark days light.

If you promise to do right at home, at work, at school or anywhere else, keep your promise because the sun is going to shine in your back door someday. There is a calm before the storm and it is always darkest just before sunrise. (Get Lucius to tell the truth at your next event. Contact theganttreport@comcast.net)
