Baltimore, MD - The candles are still freshly lit from celebration of the Afro's 113th year anniversary; however more festivities are called for as the newspaper unveils its newest publication - Trends Magazine. With an initial quarterly publication schedule, Trends Magazine is the AFRO's full color, glossy window to the lifestyle interests of the active and professional African American market in the Greater Washington and Baltimore Metropolitan areas.
Dynamic editorial and exciting photography promises to deliver compelling content such as fashion, home décor, health, shopping, cooking, entertainment and more.
"A big misconception about the African-American community is that we all live and think the same way. That couldn't be further from the truth," said AFRO Publisher John Oliver, Jr. "With such a long history of serving and being a part of the African-American community, we know first hand that African-Americans are just as diverse in their lifestyles as the world itself. Trends is dedicated to highlighting the many interests of African-American culture in this region. We're excited to give readers an authentic look at the lifestyles and interests of our community."
Trends is a free publication and will debut August 18th on newsstands and racks across the region. While readers can pick a copy up at stores, libraries, and some health and fitness centers, subscribers of the Afro-American Newspaper will receive their copies in the newspaper.
With more than 100,000 readers, the AFRO-American Newspapers is the number one news provider for African Americans in the Baltimore/Washington Metropolitan area. Founded in 1892, the paper's mission is to empower, enrich and enlighten African Americans and improve the communities in which they live. The AFRO-American Newspapers produces two weekly publications, the Baltimore edition, and the Washington, DC edition. In addition, the company also publishes a daily Web site - www.afro.com.
