ATLANTA -The National Black Caucus of Local Elected Officials has sworn-in Atlanta City Councilmember Felicia A. Moore as its new President.

Moore, a native of Indianapolis, was officially sworn-in ceremony at the National League of Cities 2005 Congress of Cities Convention, December 6 thru 10 in Charlotte.

"I am humbled by the support given to me by my colleagues from across the country to lead this awesome and powerful organization," Moore said.

NBC-LEO is an affiliate of the National League of Cities (NLC), an advocacy group that serves as the voice of America's cities and towns across the United States. More than 1,600 cities and towns are members of the National League of Cities in Washington, DC.

NBC-LEO represents over four hundred African American elected officials across the country.

The organization was created in 1970. NBC-LEO's objectives include increasing African American participation on the NLC's steering and policy committees to ensure that policy and program recommendations reflect African American concerns and benefit their communities.

The organization also works independently with its members to inform them on issues affecting the African American community and helps to devise ways to achieve their community objectives through legislation and direct action. NBC-LEO conducts its annual meetings in conjunction with NLC's Congress of Cities and the Congressional City Conference.

Moore replaces outgoing NBC-LEO President Leo V. Chaney, Jr. Councilmember, Dallas, Texas.

In addition, Moore received the prestigious Gold Level Leadership Ambassador Certificate for completing the required hours of training and holding leadership positions within the Georgia Municipal Association.

While serving as President of the National Black Caucus of Local Elected Officials, Moore will remain vice-chair of the Finance Administration Intergovernmental Relations (FAIR) Steering Committee.

Moore is an associate broker with Keller Williams Realty and a member of the Atlanta and National Boards of Realtors. She is a cum laude graduate of Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio with a B.A. degree in communications.

Moore is a 1979 graduate of Arlington High School in Indianapolis. She is the daughter of Lillie and Joseph Moore, also of Indianapolis.
