Los Angeles, CA - It was Jay King who created a new chapter in musical history when he alone produced, pressed, marketed and promoted the million-selling smash “Rumors” by the Timex Social Club in the early ‘80’s, turning it into the biggest selling 12” single in history. Proving he was no fluke, he went on to form Club Nouveau, one of the most distinctive and original groups to influence the contemporary music scene. Spawning hits such as “Lean On Me,” “Why You Treat Me So Bad,” “Situation #9,” and “Jealousy,” Club Nouveau, under the direction of King, solidified their stance in pop music history.

Today, King is singing a different tune. He is on a mission to do for the gaming industry what he did for the music industry. That is, change its course. With the formation of his Professional Domino Association (PDA), poker just may become passé.

Already sighted in Forbes Magazine as the leader of this craze, the Professional Domino Association is embarking on a 12-city tour, beginning February 11, 2006 in Los Angeles and ending August 19, 2006 in Las Vegas. With a $30,000 purse as prize in each city, and grand prize total $150,000 at the Championship tourney, there are also plans underway for a television series.

As noted in Los Angeles Magazine, “King’s strategy is to reposition dominoes as a TV-worthy sport blending the bravado of the NBA with the strategy of chess.” Cites King, “We about to trump Texas Hold ’Em!”

The game of dominoes has been around for centuries and is extremely popular in urban communities. Played with white rectangular chips with black dots, the game is also hot amongst professional ball players, including Gary Payton, Paul Pierce and Bryon Russell. In fact, Anthony Anderson, Mekhi Phifer and Omar Gooding are just of few of the celebrities who lent support to the organization’s launch event recently held in Los Angeles.

Corporate sponsors have taken note of the new phenomenon as well. Fundex Games (www.fundexgames.com) has entered into an exclusive agreement with PDA to manufacture, develop & distribute dominoes, chips and other accessories directly connected with their style of dominoes for retail worldwide. PitBull Energy Drink will serve as the sole, non-alcoholic beverage company, while Boss Productions, Inc. will co-sponsor the NBA-All Star weekend event in Houston, February 18, 2006.

Players in the current tournament include Doris Anderson, mother of actor Anthony Anderson, Ken L. from “The Parkers” bass player Kenneth Gant from Midnight Star, and top ranking contenders, Nate Tsegay, Courtney Triggs, Antwon Tanner and Curtis Elerson. The Association even boasts its own George W. Bush, a professional challenger hailing from Pembroke Pines, Florida.

“What we are doing is creating an industry here,” explains King, who has played dominoes for three decades, garnering the skill from his father and mother. “Dominoes are to gaming what hip hop is to music. It’s a billion dollar industry waiting to happen!”

With a track record like his, King should know. He’s produced music that has served as the soundtrack to our lives. His domino theory may just be his next big hit!
