"Calling Contestants for the Mr. Black Tennessee Scholarship Pageant"

Nashville, TN-July 27, 2006-Diavontti Productions is presenting the 1st annual Mr. Black Tennessee Scholarship Pageant 2007. The pageant will be held June 2, 2007 at 6 pm in Nashville, TN. This year’s theme will be “O Brother Where Art Thou.”

The idea of the Mr. Black Tennessee Scholarship Pageant was created in 2005 to advance educational and professional opportunities for African-American men. The competition will provide scholarships that will allow the participants to pursue and achieve their educational, career and personal goals.

Candidates, aged 18-27, will submit a 5 x 7 color or black and white photograph (non-returnable), a completed official entry form, and a one-page typed essay indicating why you feel you should be considered for a contestant for the Mr. Black Tennessee Scholarship Pageant. The essay should also include the candidate’s personal accomplishments and ambitions, and it should describe any type of community service involvements in which he has participated.

The title of Mr. Black Tennessee will come with several responsibilities in the community; speaking out as an activist for young males and encouraging their younger counterparts to set goals and accomplish their dreams.

Entries should be sent to Diavontti Productions c/o Mr. Black Tennessee, P.O. Box 331174, Nashville, TN 37203. Entries must be received no later than Monday, April 2, 2007 to be eligible for consideration. Those who submit and are considered to be a contestant will be called by a representative from the Mr. Black Tennessee Scholarship Pageant Committee after the review/selection process is completed.
