One year ago, not knowing what the future would bring, yet believing in the possibilities, Dave and Tonette Washington proudly opened the doors of Beyond Your Ordinary Bookstore at 312 Auburn Avenue in Atlanta, Georgia. After that heartening grand opening, the Washingtons endured much success and a few hardships, however, Beyond Your Ordinary Bookstore remains opened for business today.
After having only been in business for three months, it was brought to the Washington’s attention that Writer/Actor/Director Tyler Perry drove past the store and “had to have it in his movie.” “Having Idris Elba and Gabrielle Union in our bookstore meeting Mr. Perry himself at the ‘Wrap Up’ party that he had for the people that played special roles, after the taping of the movie was complete, was awesome. Mr. Perry is a very down to earth kind of guy and very easy to talk to. It was an honor to participate in one of his movies and BYOB would be more than happy to help him make any movies in the future!” an excited Tonette stated.
