"Yellow Fever - by Lucius Gantt"

The Gantt Report - Call 911! Get the Life Flight Helicopter airborne because many of the country’s most prominent African Americans are sick!

If they are not quarantined, the whole community will be sick as a dog!

Why? Necessary steps must be taken because large numbers of so-called Black leaders are suffering from Yellow Fever!

When it is time to stand up, they sit down and turn yellow! When it is time to speak out, they get as quiet as a mouse and turn yellow! When it is time to fight for the rights of Black women, children and families, they tuck their yellow heads between their yellow legs and hightail it away!

When you suffer from Yellow Fever in a figurative sense, you are scared of your own shadow, you are afraid of everything.

Even though there is power in Black unity. Many of us are afraid to unite. Black religious leaders are scared to come together. Black businesses don’t want to join forces. Black educators and schools shun working relationships.

When you suffer from Yellow Fever you are afraid to show some love to your brothers and sisters. You are afraid to give a job or a contract to your Black friends, neighbors and family members. You are reluctant to spend your money with companies and firms that have owners that look like you look!

The primary cause of Yellow Fever in Black Americans is fear! Modern day Negroes are afraid to disagree with modern day slave masters. They are afraid to read books, news reports and editorial columns that tell the truth about our historical existence in the United States. They are scared of rap music, reggae music or any other kind of music that paints a true picture of life in shanty towns, ghettos, barrios and Black neighborhoods. They are terrified of African apparel, Afro hair styles and African forms of worship and spirituality.

I pray for the recovery of Black folks that can’t shake their Yellow Fever. However, it seems the only cure for the type of Yellow Fever discussed in this column is a heart transplant.

The road to freedom, justice, and equality is rough but we have to be tough! To some, it is better to be dead and buried in a grave than to be a punk that lives as a slave!

If you love God, love your neighbors and love yourself, you can overcome your Yellow Fever. Follow your own heart and quit begging “The Wizard” for everything! (Gantt’s new book “Beast Too: Dead Man Writing” is coming soon. Contact Lucius at www.allworldconsultants.net)
