The Gantt Report - The once was a popular song that went, “I found love on a two-way street and lost it on a lonely highway”.
Nowadays, you can find love on an information highway and lose it in a parking lot!
There are hundreds, if not thousands, of Internet relationship web sites. Anyone can log onto any site but most relationship sites are geared to particular groups of people. There are Black sites, Hispanic sites, senior citizen sites, college sites, etc.
I know some very successful relationships that were a result of Internet inspired dating. My daughter met her husband on the web and it appears that they are very happy together.
However, I also know about some web dating horror stories. I know people that have been stalked, sued, harassed, cajoled and literally attacked by fools that they met online.
Yes, if a fool is a fool offline, he or she will be a fool when they launch an Internet dating profile.
One of the biggest problems with Internet dating are the lies. (Sounds like normal dating experiences doesn’t it?) People love to exaggerate or down play the truth on relationship web sites.
“Average’ body can mean chubby”. Attractive” can mean less than pretty. “Thick, full figured, can lose a few pounds” all can mean fat!
There is so much money being made by Internet relationship sites I have even considered starting a site myself. My site would be called “BC Dating Site”. Everybody that joins my site would have to undergo a background check! That way you can tell if people really are who they say they are and the drama can be lessened although not eliminated.
Another songs says “Love don’t love nobody” and that phrase has never been truer than it is on the internet. When you first become attracted to someone on an Internet site you don’t know his or her names, ages, education, profession, location or anything pertinent. Oftentimes people merely fall in love with an Internet profile photograph.
Good luck if you can get through the suspicion, doubt, disbelief, tricknology, trickeration, and false promises that go along with Internet dating.
True love is true love no matter where you find it! (Gantt’s new book “Beast Too: Dead Man Writing is coming soon. Contact Lucius at www.allworldconsultants.net)
