(Taylor Media Services) Laurence Fishburne, perhaps best known for the role of Ike in the Tina Turner bio-drama “What’s Love Got to Do with It”, is set to star in a one-man Broadway play based on the life of civil rights legal giant, former U.S. Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall.
“Thurgood” begins previews on April 12th at New York’s Booth Theatre. However, it does not officially open until April 30th. According to a release promoting the play, it “is the remarkable and triumphant story of Thurgood Marshall who rose from a childhood in the back streets of Baltimore to the Supreme Court of the United States.
Fishburne has already won a Tony Award for his performance in the Broadway play “Two Trains Running.” The Booth Theatre is located at 222 West 45th Street.
