The Gantt Report - Minutes after Illinois Senator Barack Obama obtained enough delegates to become the Democratic Party nominee for President of the United States, talk turned to who would be Obama’s November running mate as Vice President.
At the end of the Presidential Primaries, Hillary the Dreamer dreamed of being on “the Dream Team” but will a Hillary Clinton Vice Presidential campaign be a nightmare for Obama?
History is the best teacher and if you look at the recent history of Hillary Clinton, she made more disparaging remarks about Barack Obama than any other Democratic or Republican primary candidate.
She said Obama’s message of change and hope was merely rhetoric. She said that she and Republican John McCain were more experienced than Obama. Hillary Clinton has constantly gone against America’s Democratic primary voters and the majority of pledged Democratic delegates to insist that their votes and choices were wrong and that she is a much better candidate than Barack Obama.
OK, let’s look at some historical relationships between some Black men and white women.
Well, we know that back in the day that white women were not happy to see their husband slave masters leave their bedroom to go to the slave quarters to rape Black women. We remember how easy it was for white women to provoke ku klux klansmen into beating, lynching and killing of Black men just by saying “rape”. We know Emmitt Till was killed because a white woman said he looked at her. We know what happened at Rosewood, Florida and in hundreds of other cities.
Don’t act like I’m crazy! Even today, Barack Obama knows that whatever he does on the campaign trail, he had better not say anything disparaging about Hillary or any other white woman because if he does, his campaign would be dead in the water.
As far as Vice President, Obama shouldn’t reject Senator Clinton because she is a woman. He should not select Clinton as a running mate because he could get someone better. Some say Obama should wait until late summer and choose a conservative, older white man as his running mate. He should not let a beat down former opponent force him to make any decision before it’s time.
It has been said if something sounds too good to be true, it may not be. I say if a suggestion for Vice President sounds bad, it may be worse!
Obama should take his time evaluating his VP options and do it right. I don’t know whom he’ll choose as running mate but I do know that more than a few people in politics that were associated with the Clintons have wound up dead!
I think Miss Daisy should wait eight years to drive her own Presidential car. (Gantt’s new book “Beast Too: Dead Man Writing” is coming soon and will be illustrated by Lance Scurvin. Contact Lucius at www.allworldconsultants .net).
