"Former American Idol Ruben Studdard to Perform at Real Men Cook Atlanta Father’s Day Celebration"

Ruben_Studdard (38k image)The “Velvet Teddy Bear,” Ruben Studdard, Congressman John Lewis, Cascade United Methodist Church Pastor Marvin Moss and actress Victoria Rowell will join top Atlanta chefs, celebrity tasters and judges, and over one hundred passionate men cooking for Real Men Cook® (RMC) For Charity Atlanta’s 21st annual Father’s Day celebration Sunday June 20 from 3 – 6 PM at the Georgia Railroad Depot next to Underground Atlanta. “Every year on Father’s Day Real Men Cook presents this event in major cities across the country to celebrate and lift up strong fathers and other real men who care for the community, while also raising money for local charities,” said Atlanta RMC event manager, Diane Larche’. “This year’s Atlanta charity partners are: Communities in Schools of Georgia a program helping students to stay in school; The Ruben Studdard Foundation focusing on students in the arts; C.H.O.I.C.E.S for Kids, a program addressing childhood obesity and Real Men Charities Inc. which works to make the family unit strong.”

RMC Spokesman Kevin Ashford adds, “This family oriented event is also an opportunity to underscore the value and contribution of Black men to healthy families and communities to the thousands of guests in attendance.”

Several high-profile personalities, local officials and dignitaries will serve as celebrity hosts, judges, and cooks including: Roger Bobb of Tyler Perry Studios and RMC Honorary Chairman; Tom Jones, WSB TV 2; Chef Jamika, Food Network; Sam Crenshaw, WXIA TV 11; and R&B artist, Cherelle, City Council President Ceasar Mitchell and City Councilman C.T. Martin.

In addition to showcasing the culinary skills of over 100 Atlanta men, the annual charity event will feature a live performance by Ruben Studdard, giveaways, a silent auction, clowns and other activities for children. A stand alone RMC Health Pavilion will feature healthy foods, blood pressure screenings, and a chef doing healthy cooking demonstrations. Congressman Lewis and actress & author, Victoria Rowell, will be on hand to sign their most recent books.

Top Atlanta chef’s participating in the cookfest include: Executive Chef Desmond Fanin, Sodexo at Atlanta Public Schools; Chef Keith Kash, Owner of Who's Got Soul restaurants and celebrity chef for Ed Hartwell of Real Housewives of Atlanta and latin Chef Raul Thomas.
