Due to what I believe is rampant fraud on both sides, more than 300 people have died as a result of post election violence in Nairobi Kenya. According to the Associated Press, “The violence was sparked by charges President Mwai Kibaki stole his way to re-election - even his elections chief was quoted Wednesday as saying he could not be sure who won.”

Over the past five days 70,000 people have been displaced. Slums – which are divided along tribal lines – have been burned down, rival groups are battling with machetes and sticks, and about 5,400 people have fled to neighboring Uganda.

Americans should be outraged by what is going on in Kenya and talk about what we, African Americans, can do here to stem the violence there. If we are really to be African centered, we need to figure out what we can do to help stop the violence. I think we should let the Kenyan people know that Black folks will stop supporting any business doing business in Kenya if they don’t stop the foolishness. The reality is that they are hacking each other to death because their party lost. We have to make it very clear that we are appalled by their behavior.

All of the pro-Black, name changing, dashiki wearing, African Americans need to make a strong statement or stop giving their motherland speeches. Don't just talk about it, be about it!
Read about what's going on in Kenya here

Associated Press
Kenya post election violence kills more than 300, international pressure mounts for resolution

NAIROBI, Kenya (AP): The death toll from more than five days of post-election violence in Kenya rose above 300, rights groups said Wednesday as slums burned and thousands were left homeless.

The violence was sparked by charges President Mwai Kibaki stole his way to re-election - even his elections chief was quoted Wednesday as saying he could not be sure who won. The political rift quickly took on a tribal element in what has been one of Africa's most stable democracies. In one of the worst attacks, a mob set fire to a church Tuesday in a town about 300 kilometers northwest of Nairobi, killing up to 50 members of Kibaki's Kikuyu tribe who had taken refuge inside. Full story here

I apologize for posting Obama stories back-to-back, but for all of the objectors that don't believe America will elect a Black man, here's what the other people think. If White people think Obama is a viable candidate, I wonder why so many Black people cannot accept a Black man on the ticket for President. Is that racism?

More Blacks Lean Toward Obama
Shift in Allegiance From Clinton Could Tighten Primaries in South
By JONATHAN KAUFMAN and VALERIE BAUERLEIN December 14, 2007; Page A5

Barack Obama's rising poll numbers among white voters in Iowa and New Hampshire are having an unexpected ripple effect: Some black voters are switching their allegiance from Hillary Clinton and lining up behind him too. That could mean a further tightening of the Democratic presidential race, especially in southern states where blacks make up as many as half of Democratic primary voters.

...The black vote is likely to be crucial in the cascade of primaries that follow Iowa and New Hampshire next year. Blacks make up almost half of Democratic primary voters in South Carolina and Georgia, one third in Virginia and a quarter in Tennessee. They also make up a fifth of primary voters in New York and 15% in Delaware and Ohio.Read the full story here

Does Senator Obama have enough experience to become president?

There is no specific training or career path that leads to the position of President of the United States. Now that a Black man is seriously positioned to win the nomination as the democratic candidate, why is his age and experience an issue? First of all, how is Senator Hillary Clinton so much more experienced than Senator Barack Obama? If we are counting Sen. Clinton’s stint as first lady, what in that job prepared her to be president? If Sen. Clinton wants to count her husband’s tenure as president it is important that we examine President Clinton’s record on issues impacting the Black community.

If you really do the research you might figure out that President Clinton was not necessarily as “Black” as they spin him. Don’t believe the hype. Look at Clinton’s record as it relates to African American issues. I hope people aren’t saying that he’s Black because he smoked weed and cheated on his wife, but Clinton didn’t do much for the Black community when he was in office and I doubt that his wife will do much more.

As for Sen. Obama’s age. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. started SCLC when he was 35. Congressman John Lewis addressed the nation during the March on Washington at 23. The country desperately needs change now. What exactly should Barack Obama wait for?
Republican presidential candidates came to blows last night during a debate hosted by CNN/YouTube. It was a close call, but it seems like Mike Huckabee may have reigned supreme in this match, he is definitely giving the front-runners a run for the money. Rudy Giuliani may have taken his tough-guy image a little too far. In a sharp exchange with former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, Giuliani accused Romney of employing illegal immigrants. Romney fought back, accusing the former New York City mayor of trying to divert attention from his record on immigration. The sparring didn’t start or stop there, check out the YouTube video for highlights.

Republican rivals come out swinging
Giuliani, Romney escalate their war of words in debate by Michael D. Shear,Dan Balz, Washington Post

(11-29) 04:00 PST St. Petersburg, Fla. -- Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani clashed sharply at the opening of a Republican presidential debate Wednesday, each accusing the other of ignoring laws against illegal immigration and distorting one another's records on the issue.

The two candidates carried the war of words that had escalated over the weekend to the stage in Florida on Wednesday night, setting a confrontational tone at the outset of the CNN-YouTube debate that was quickly picked up by several other candidates.

Within minutes, Rep. Ron Paul of Texas, former Sen. Fred Thompson of Tennessee, Sen. John McCain of Arizona, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, Rep. Tom Tancredo of Colorado and Rep. Duncan Hunter of Alpine (San Diego County) joined the battle.

The eight Republican candidates encountered a range of questions, including abortion, gun control from a gun wielding NRA member and farm subsidies from a man eating an ear of corn. They were even asked if they believed every word in the Bible by a man holding one, and a question on the powers of the vice president from a gun-toting cartoon-version of Dick Cheney.

The exchanges underscored the concerns of all the leading candidates as they jockey for advantage with only five weeks remaining until the Iowa caucuses, and no contender with a clear edge in the battle for the GOP nomination.

Giuliani got the opening question in the form of a video submitted by a New Yorker, who challenged him for running a sanctuary city for illegal aliens as mayor.

"The reality is, New York was not a sanctuary city," Giuliani responded, noting areas of exception to enforcing the laws on his watch that he said were necessary to maintain the health and safety of all city residents. When Romney accused Giuliani of ignoring the laws and of welcoming illegal immigrants to New York, Giuliani attacked him for employing illegal immigrants at his home. "I would say he had a sanctuary mansion," Giuliani said. Click here for the full story
OTHER ARTICLES:
Massachusetts lawmakers claim the proposed measure to ban parents from spanking their children will protect kids from abuse. Do you think the government should have the right to control how you discipline your children?

It is already illegal to abuse your child, however, out-of-control parents are still committing brutal acts like putting their children in the microwave. It is unlikely that a law prohibiting parents from disciplining their children will stop child abuse. Do you think Georgia needs to consider legislating how parents punish their children?

Should Spanking Your Child Be Illegal? (ABC News)
Proposed Massachusetts Law Would Ban Parents From Spanking Their Kids, Even at Home

Massachusetts lawmakers say a proposed measure that would ban parents from spanking their children, even in their own homes, is a way to protect kids from abuse. But many parents believe it's an example of government run amok.

In all 50 states, parents are legally allowed to spank their children. But in 29 states it's illegal for a teacher to practice corporal punishment, including spanking.

A Massachusetts nurse is hoping to change that and make the state the first in the nation to ban corporal punishment at home.
"I think it's ironic that domestic violence applies to everyone except the most vulnerable — children," said Kathleen Wolf, who wrote the bill.

Massachusetts lawmakers will consider the bill today. Click here for the full article
