"Historical Reflection, Relaxation and Celebration by the Sea on Sapelo Island"

Sapelo Island, GA – The Sapelo Island Cultural and Revitalization Society, Inc. (SICARS) of Sapelo Island, GA will kickoff its first Diaspora - Reflection, Relaxation and Celebration by the Sea on Sapelo Island, GA on Saturday, June 23, 2007 from 9:30 am until 5:00 p.m.

The 2007 Diaspora: Reflection, Relaxation and Celebration by the Sea on Sapelo Island was conceived to bring about awareness of the African Diaspora, its relationship to the descendants on Sapelo Island, the contributions and accomplishments of all people of the African Diaspora and their rich legacy, past and present. This event features educational forums, a drumming circle, food prepared by Island chefs, a volleyball tournament, all day activities for children and teens and a silent auction. Activities abound for the entire family.

Tickets are $50 for adults and $25 for children. Tickets include full lunch, beverages, desserts, transportation to and from Sapelo Island and transportation to and from beach. The Diaspora - Reflection, Relaxation and Celebration is produced by the Sapelo Island Cultural and Revitalization Society, Inc. of Sapelo Island, GA, a non-profit organization. All proceeds from the event benefit the programs of SICARS.


Directions:

From I 95 S, take Exit 49, turn left at the end of the exit ramp, onto Hwy 251 proceed (1.2 mi.) to the T intersection, make a left turn onto Hwy 17, proceed to the first right turn (.04 mi.) onto Blount Crossing Road, proceed to the T intersection (1.3 mi.), make a left turn onto Hwy 99, proceed to Landing Road (5.5 mi.)(by Elm Grove Baptist Church in Meridian), make a right turn onto, follow the road and curve right, crossing a small bridge (.5 mi.), continue following the road until you see parking attendants will further direct you to parking and Ferry boarding to Sapelo Island.
