The Gantt Report - After pleading guilty to dog fighting recently in a federal courthouse, football player Michael Vick gave a heartfelt apology to everyone hurt by his involvement in illegal activities.

Minutes after Vick pleaded guilty, the Atlanta Falcons football team owner Arthur Blank couldn’t wait to call a press conference and blame Michael Vick for hurting the team and the National Football League.

Hmmm!

It was easy for Blank, a hunter and animal killer himself, to blame Vick for troubling the team but it seems extremely hard for Blank to blame white folks at the Humane Society and the organization called People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) for lying about the extent of Vick’s criminal involvement, for paying people to pose as concerned citizens to protest Vick, for using false statements by drug dealers and snitches to point fingers at Vick and for calling on the world to chastise Vick and to deny Vick his constitutional right to due process.

Both groups lie and say Vick killed animals for six years but there is no testimony or evidence to prove that. Both groups lie and say Vick was a dog fighting “kingpin” when history suggests and proves that most dog fighters are Caucasian. Both groups lie and say that all dogs are lovable when in fact their neighbors, friends and certainly their ancestors have used dogs to attack and control Black people all over the world.

How ethical was it to order dogs to bite women and children at peaceful civil rights demonstrations?

Now more than ever we need the Black press to plead our own cause. We can’t rely on the modern day imperialist press to be fair. Nor can we depend on the Uncle Tom, neocolonialist, handkerchief-headed Negroes who feel they have to parrot closet Klansmen to keep their jobs at white media companies to report truthfully and fairly.

You’ll never hear how we feel about our heroes unless you read Black newspapers or use other Black media sources.

I asked a sister at the Atlanta Journal newspaper why she wouldn’t write about the national and world history of Blacks and dogs. She said she knew the history but couldn’t write about it in the white-owned newspaper because the story would be too “inflammatory”.

The truth is too inflammatory? I’m sure it is, especially when you want Black people to only read what the offspring of slave owners want Blacks to read.

Arthur Blank and the Falcons have already demanded that Vick return money they paid Vick to sign a contract with the Falcons because of the protests of fake dog lovers that are really Vick haters.

That’s OK with me but I think the Black Atlanta Falcon season ticket holders should also ask for their money back too since they bought tickets to see Vick play.

Vick made the NFL, Blank, the Atlanta Falcons and the City of Atlanta a lot of money. However, when you pull the sheets off of all of the individuals, to them, Vick is just another N-word.

It’s all about Vick being the one-time highest paid pro football player in America. Other NFL players have killed dogs, and people, and are playing in the NFL right now and no media, no organization and no dog has said a mumbling word! Go figure!
